It seemed like a good idea at the time. I did replace this seal, since it was apart. I don't expect this to be published, as my review of the P1 was not, for the same reasons. Other air pistols I own, Beeman 65, Beeman 102, Beeman 103, IZH46 the trigger is just as consistent as all of these. Because of the awkwardness when trying to get leverage, I don't think it would be hard to dislodge the night sights plastic. It had rusting and pitting on the exterior, a bent barrel and spring, dry rotted stock butt, cracked piston, and a malfunctioning trigger. Reading Tom Gaylords comments about using Crossman Pell gun oil (vs the vendor recommended lubricant), I figured what the heck as I was ready to throw the pistol out. Add a 3-7 pistol scope and you can shoot flies at 10 meters/30ft. You will find a wealth of info to fix your P17. This seemed like a lot of money for 7 ml of oil. Amazingly, the trigger work has settled out to just a consistent single stage 13oz pull weight, still about 3\16" of pre-travel...still very smooth with a surprised sear break every time!
